Hard wood flooring can be maintained by using household detergent and a little elbow grease. If you don’t have any detergent on hand use ¼ cup of white vinegar to 1 quart of warm water and don’t forget a little brow sweat. If your wood is in bad shape try sanding it back to its original state, solid wood can be sanded and refinished many times. But if your floor is laminate sand once only with
extreme care or call a professional

Treat stains immediately by blotting not rubbing or scrubbing. Vacuum twice a week, adding an additional vacuum for every two people in your home. Make sure your vacuum has adjustable rotating brushes so air can penetrate through the backing of the carpet. Also clean professionally with hot water extraction every18- 24 months.

A wipe down with a wet mop is usually sufficient. But if you prefer using a cleaner apply a neutral mild detergent cleaner. Add a small amount of cleaner to water providing an effective way to ensure proper and routine cleaning of tile and grout surfaces. If the grout needs extra attention, apply grout cleaner with an applicator bottle.

VCT is easier to care for than most think. Use a non-rinsing cleaner bought from your local tile store that will leave no film. DON’T flood the floor with water; too much H2O may cause the edges of the tile to curl. DON’T use abrasive cleaners; they may scratch the tile. DON’T use dishwashing liquid; it may leave a film. DON’T use oil-based cleaners; they may cause more film than dishwashing liquid.
